  • Sad times…

    18th May 2016The Delicate Diner

Ah, my dear Delicate Diners. It’s been a sad time for me the past week as I lost two friends in four days. Grief is always difficult to deal with at the best of times, but add in such loss and an incredibly busy time of year, and you reach a stage where you just need to work through your list of what needs to be done – rather than what you would perhaps love to do. I have blogs lined up about the new Fire & Feast offering at Relish Restaurant, as well as tonka beans at Ragdale Hall, but these…

  • Coeliac Awareness Week: My Top Ten Tips

    13th May 2016The Delicate Diner

This week is Coeliac Awareness Week here in the UK and my Twitter feed is full of information about this disease, as well as special offers for those affected by it. An estimated half a million people in the UK alone are undiagnosed sufferers of Coeliac Disease. And that is without taking into account those that are intolerant to gluten, such as myself. Awareness of both conditions is essential – as my Two terrible lunches, the ‘odd crumb’ & salvation… blog proved. Your Gluten Freedom has just held its second Expo here in Norwich, and we have only just begun to share things…

  • The Delicate Diner joins Twitter!

    10th April 2016The Delicate Diner

It is funny. You start something and very quickly, you outgrow things. I had originally planned a full website for The Delicate Diner but decided that I didn’t have time to do that right now – what with running The Arabian Magazine (horses), being on the Board for Your Gluten Freedom (next Expo on 8 May), being Chair of the Norfolk & Suffolk Arabian Horse Group (show 22 May), and all the travelling I’ve done for the magazine so far this year. But, as they always say, ask a busy person…! And anyway, what makes my time any busier than…

  • Happy Easter – a short blog!

    27th March 2016The Delicate Diner

I hope that you are all having a wonderful day, whether you’re at home with your family or enjoying time away. I had a lovely lunch out at my favourite restaurant in Norfolk, Relish, found at Newton Flotman. As everything is made fresh, being gluten and dairy-free is not a problem at all, and we all had a fantastic meal. One thing that I love is that I rarely receive a dessert menu as, invariably, chef has something special planned. Today, it was caramelised gluten-free lemon sponge with pistachios, berries and champagne granita. Delicious! Driving home, we saw a beautiful…

  • Plain food…

    14th March 2016The Delicate Diner

I have just arrived in the Middle East and decided, en route, to do a blog entry. For, my dear Delicate Diners, plane food – or plain food – is something that we have to approach with trepidation… My first happy result was that my ordered gluten-free meal was there. In spite of flying with British Airways for many years, they do sometimes like to forget my dietary requirements and leave my gluten-free meal behind. While I am on the subject, I do find it odd, or should that be wryly amusing, that passengers are only allowed to select one…

  • Wow, what a welcome!

    12th March 2016The Delicate Diner

This blog/site is as much about you as it is about me. If we have any kind of intolerance, then we are all Delicate Diners, at the end of the day…

  • Welcome to The Delicate Diner!

    12th March 2016The Delicate Diner

Being a Delicate Diner in the modern world can be a challenging one – and then is the reaction from others – to stop being difficult, fussy or even to ‘grow up and eat what’s in front of you’. If only it were that simple!
