An Update from Your Gluten Freedom – beer, bangers and more beer!

9th June 2016Samantha Mattocks

Good evening, my lovely Delicate Diners! I hope that you are all well. I like to picture you reading this, sat out in the garden and enjoying the late sun of another lovely June day, a glass of wine in hand and your other half slaving over a hot stove, preparing you a plate of gluten-free deliciousness.

Or, maybe you are like me. In from a superb day in Norwich – I have been talking all things The Delicate Diner/Your Gluten Freedom – cat cursing you as you have been out all day and hasn’t been fed yet, and dinner may well be a grab from the freezer. But fear not – a glass of delicious and cold Villa Maria Sauvignon  has been poured!

I cannot believe that yesterday, it was one month since the Your Gluten Freedom Expo in Norwich. People are still talking about how great the day was and how much they are looking forward to the next one on Sunday 2 October. But Your Gluten Freedom is not just about Expos, it is a way of life and helping you to live yours more easily by providing information as well as entertainment. And with that in mind, Sara Matthews, founder of Your Gluten Freedom, and I have some great things planned for the coming months.

First of all, on Saturday 30 July and run by Thirst Consultants in association with Your Gluten Freedom, we have a tour around St Peter’s Brewery who, of course, do the most fantastic gluten-free beer options. The tour will last most of the day, starting with the beer tasting and tour itself, followed by lunch at St Peter’s. There is more information to follow but get the date in your diary now!

Even more exciting from my point of view is the 2016 Your Gluten Freedom Beer and Sausage Festival! I CANNOT WAIT! Again, this is run in association with Cheryl Cade from Thirst Consultants, and it promises to be a great event.

I mean, what is not to love? During the day, there is a festival where there will be stalls selling very best gluten-free beer and sausages available. And in the evening, the ticket-only event will enable you – and me! – to be a judge and blind-taste the different sausages and beer on offer. Cheryl will provide information on which beer goes with which banger, and you get to vote on the best banger, the best beer, and the best overall combination. Tickets are £22.50 each (plus admin fee) and includes entry as a judge to taste and score all the competition beer and bangers, a meal, entertainment, and goodie bags. The date is firmly in my diary – I really hope to see you there!

That’s it from me tonight. If I don’t go and feed the cat, he will be breaking into the freezer himself and eating my food just to prove a point! Sorry this is so short and sweet, but it’s definitely worth getting those dates in the diary:

  • 30 July, St Peter’s Brewery tour
  • 2 October, Your Gluten Freedom Expo, Norwich
  • 15 October, BEER & SAUSAGE FESTIVAL (sorry to shout, but I am excited! And yes, there will be mash! And yes, there will be gravy!)

Have a wonderful evening, and thank you all again for your support.

Samantha xx
